Artist statement:

Watching teenagers jumping from the top tower at Civic Pool at the height of Summer made me nostalgic for similar days I shared with my childhood friend Malcolm. With his passing this series of screenprints are my tribute to him. Mal’s adult life had often been complicated and he told me how he yearned to be free of the the weight of his life’s experiences, to start all over. With this work I wanted to explore that feeling of weightlessness, or suspension, and to capture a fleeting moment as the tug of gravity pulls the body earthward: an ode to the passing of time.
